As most of you know we met with the Company today and started the meeting off by discussing the affect of an RMR ( reliability must run ) payment for Elrama #4 and what it would mean to the employees. IF Elrama #4 does get a RMR, then the staffing levels would change, but probably not much.  GenOn & PJM would have to come to an agreement on the payment, also the RMR could end at any time prior to June 2014. The Company is not sure what will happen with units 1,2 & 3, will they be mothballed or deactivated completely?
We continued to discuss how things will be handled ( as we have in the previous meetings ) if they don't get an RMR payment or when it ends and Elrama is closed.
Our next meeting is May 8th, the Company could possibly know the status of unit #4 & RMR payments by then.

Thanks,
Kenn

We met with the Company today for the first time since the announcement of the mothballing of Elrama.
There are currently 35 local 29 employees at Elrama, the Company plans on getting down to 9 local 29 employees by 12/31/12. The 9 would consist of 7operators, 1 mechanic & 1 E&I, that number would be maintained until March of 2014. The Company stressed that the number would change sooner if they were not held to the interconnect agreement by Duquesne light Co. When the interconnect agreement ends, they would at that time, reduce the number of employees to 2.
Currently Cheswick has 15 vacancies, 7 mechanics, 1 E&I, 2 PPO's & 5 Utility workers. they are still not sure if they will be adding positions at BI as they are in talks with the gas company.
We will be meeting again on 4/2/12 & 4/9/12 to discuss how vacancies will be filled and other issues in this process.

Thanks,
Kenn

We met with the Company today for a couple of hours and had some general discussions on the best way to handle the mothballing of Elrama. The Company is looking for a smooth transition with minimal disruption, while we the Union, are trying to prevent any layoff at all and to have all of our members in the best position possible under these circumstances. We don't have a lot of details right now but once we make some progress i will let you know. In the meantime come to work and do your job safely everyday.

I hear rumors almost everyday, i know some people think it's funny but it's really not, there is enough real stress at work and home, so please think before you decide to start a rumor or to keep it going.

We will be meeting with the Company again on April 9th, hopefully i will have more information for you then.

Thanks
Kenn

Hi everyone, by now you all have heard of the plans to mothball Elrama in June 2012 and then close it March 2014. I just wanted to let you know that the Union leadership will do everything possible to keep anyone from being laid off. At this time we do not know the number of employees they plan on keeping at Elrama during the mothballing process. We will be meeting with the company as soon as possible to start working on the issues that this event will cause, as i get information i will be passing it onto our members, to keep you informed. We already had planned on having a meeting with the members at Cheswick on March 7th, i'm not sure at this time if we will meet with the Company prior to that date, if needed we will set up a meeting with the Elrama members when the time is right. We need everyone to continue to do their job in a safe and professional manner, the fewer problems we have right now the better.  Anyone that has any questions or concerns please drop me a line, lets try and keep the rumors to a minimum, things are stressful enough at this time without the rumors.

Thanks,
Kenn
